Snowbound on the Sound….Larchmont Village

January 26th, 2011

Snowy Day in Manor Park            Larchmont Manor is once again covered in a blanket of snow. What was forecasted as snow flurries seems to be sticking, and this seems to be quite the trend in our area. Once again parents are on alert wondering if the local schools will send the children home early or if we will make it through a full week of school.  And although it may mean more shoveling and salting for the adults, the kids love it for the sledding and snowman building.  You do have to admit that it looks beautiful as you ride or walk through the Village of Larchmont, a real life winter wonderland.  Let’s just hope that this fun in the snow doesn’t have the kids cutting their spring break short!

Larchmont Library Celebrates opening of New Children’s Library

October 27th, 2010

Throughout the month of October the Larchmont Public Library is heralding the opening of  a building annex for children featuring books, interactive learning spaces, meeting rooms, and a puppet stage. The Library named the project in honor of George Burchell, a former Town of Mamaroneck. Supervisor and State Supreme Court justice. His estate donated $750,000 to kickoff the $3.5 million project. The place is special and unique to Larchmont ….for example the young children’s place features a gazebo…in reference of a local landmark. The puppet stage design is similar to the local movie theater.  Typical of Larchmont there is space for young and old….a real family friendly spot. Visit www.larchmontlibrary.org  to learn more info about the new children’s room including plans for Larchmont’s First Story Walk….more to come…. stay tuned.
